Ryan's Rays

Ryan's Rays

picture of Ryan Ryan’s Rays has been created to honour the memory of Ryan Martz, a 7-year old boy from Ancaster, Ontario, who passed away in March of 2016. Ryan was diagnosed at birth with a rare congenital disorder but, despite his challenges, he impacted all who met him through his bright blue eyes and contagious smile.

Ryan’s Rays exists in order that Ryan's impact on the world continues through service projects done in his memory. In partnership with Christian Horizons, Ryan’s Rays is raising money to improve Inclusive Education in Ethiopia, a country known for its "13 months of sunshine".

Proceeds from the 2017 Dinner and Silent Auction went towards supporting Horizons Academy, a school in Asella that is a model of inclusive education. Project plans included:

- Renovating, expanding and properly equipping the inclusive education classrooms to create a positive learning environment and address the variety of physical needs students face.

- Meeting with leaders, educators, supervisors and parents in Ethiopia about the importance of inclusive education and the role they play in facilitating and supporting this cause.

Proceeds from the upcoming second annual Ryan’s Rays event on May 31, 2018 will continue to go towards inclusive education at Horizons Academy and other schools in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia.
